After making the first two Odette tops, I knew I wanted to make another straight away! Such a quick and easy sew! As it is a loose fitting top, it can easily be done in a woven fabric instead of the recommended knit fabric. So I decided to finally use one of my very first fabric crushes.

Odette top x 2: in minder en meer soepele stof (with and without drape)

Finding the right fabric for you project can be really tricky. The same pattern can turn out completely different with different fabrics. For a sewing newbie this can be one of the most difficult challenges. How do you recognise a light fabric with some drape? Or a thick firm fabric? How do you know which is the right fabric? In this blogpost I will show the difference fabric choice can make for the dolman style Odette Top by La Maison Victor. The pattern instructions call for a knit fabric. This leaves a lot of options. I decided to make this top in two different fabrics. Though both knit, their characteristic are very different: a firm cotton jersey and a thin rayon jersey. The two tops turned out quite different.
