Green has become one of my favourite colours in my wardrobe. And what fits better with green than ... green itself?! Everything in the same shade can get a little boring. To make an outfit a bit more 'exciting', you can work with different textures / fabrics. That's the styling theory at least ;) I think I can agree with the advice. The matte skirt combined with a shiny soft velvet top, smooth tights with 'rough' suede shoes lift this outfit from being simply a boring green uniform.

Going green

Myrtle dress - deel twee / take two
Can you believe it?! Somehow I managed to create a dress that is... NOT YELLOW!!!! After this, this and this dress you might start to think that the only thing coming out of my sewing room is yellow or at least yellowish. But nooooo, no such thing! Again I made a Myrtle dress but in a different fabric type and a different colour. I am almost starting to feel adventureous ;)

Colette Myrtle
Next to my closet that is filled to the rafters with fabric stands another... Invisible but packed with patterns, more then I could possibly make in a year... Many of them never used. MaMarieke, a dutch blogger, organised a sewing challenge to use your unused pdf patterns. She called out March Digital Pattern Month. That was just what I needed! So finally I set myself to making the Colette Myrtle dress. And after that I totally forgot to blog this dress in March... The challenge was to sew and not to blog, right?!

The best description for the love of my life in all my sewing endeavours is....completely neglected. My hours in the sewing room are dedicated to me and my girls. Sure enough he loves showing off the women in his life. But for a while now, he has been mentioning that he would like something me-made as well. So I made him something. And, oh boy, did he know! I decided to make him a manly backpack. A challenging project for someone with next to no bagmaking experience... Of course, not being hindered by any real experience, I also decided to make some adjustments to the pattern. It took blood, sweat, tears and a fair amount of strong language. But hereby I proudly present.... 'the bag for the man'.
