Happy birthday to me! This weekend I turn 40! And as a family together we turn 100! So very special! Something like that really deserves a big party with all my friends and family, right?! And me parading around in a gorgeous maxi dress, of course... But we are living in times of Corona so... no big party. But no way I am giving up on my party dress! So you can count on me parading around the house in this dress. Most probably we will dance into the night to Florence + the Machine and I will not so secretly pretend I am wearing one of her incredible Gucci gowns ;)

What 40 looks like

Retro style
When I just started out sewing, the retro style was going strong. King Louie, a dutch fashion brand was selling very popular seventies style wrap dresses. A lot of sewists tried to copy that dress. A particular faux wrap dress pattern by Burda patterns was very popular. Even though my style has evolved since then, I still have a weak spot for the retro style. So I decided it was time to make myself a new retro dress.
