Celebration time in our family! My biggest curlyhead has become six! Such a milestone! From baby to todler and now a real girl, who is learning to read and write. An extraordinary girl.... Sometimes it really feels like my heart can explode when I look at her! Such a milestone deserves a real party dress. The perfect excuse to dust off the Ileana pattern with all of its options.

Bunny dress
Somehow I seem to believe that I like clothes that are not too busy in soft and light colours. However when I take a look in my fabric stash or a quick look on my blog then I could not be further from the truth. Every season I cannot help myself and simply have to buy a busy digitally printed fabric. Earlier this year these cute bunnies were added to my stash. My daughters are certainly not complaining!

Bronte dress #sewwhatyouwear
Sewing for myself, it can be a real struggle. Even not taking into account my personal #sewwhatyouwear challenge. Those feminine shapes (at some places more then others) really do need some attention. Simply draping some gorgeous fabric around you does not do the trick. It really needs careful cutting and sewing. Last year I definitely found myself on a steep learning curve. It actually almost killed my sewjo all together. As I came to muslin no 3 for a fitted cotton dress (which still needed adjusting...) I decided I needed to sew something easy for me.

Bridgetown Backless #sewwhatyouwear
I definitely touched a sensitive nerve in the sewing community when I wrote my blogpost on whether I actually sew what I like to wear. Within a day twice as many people read my post as my previously most read post. I was flabbergasted by the interest in this subject. A few mentioned they tend to sew what they wear and wear what they sew, which I admire and envy.... But in most reactions on facebook and my blog I found recognition. Before I wrote my post I had already been pondering over the 'wrong' choices for patterns and fabrics for some time. At first it completely stopped my selfish sewing. But once I got a better grasp on what I like to wear I found myself more conscious in choosing the right pattern and fabric. So my mission #sewwhatyouwear already had its first success at the start of summer, whoohoo!!
