When you Meet Milk At Six

Mijn favoriete stoffenmerken, volgens mij doen ze het erom.... Keer op keer lijken de collecties van meetMILK met haar prachtige tencels, Atelier Brunette met hun warme gedempte tonen en de on-trend french terry's van See You at Six perfect op elkaar afgestemd. Wel handig als maker, want een capsule wardrobe creëren is als naaister nog nooit zo makkelijk geweest.

My favourite fabric brands, they must do it on purpose... Time and time again the collections of Meet Milk fabrics with their incredible tencel, Atelier Brunettes with their gorgeous warm muted tones and See You at Six fabrics with their on trend french terry's seem to compliment each other perfectly. They must do it on purpose, right?! As a maker I love it! Creating a capsule wardrobe has never been easier.

Toen ik deze pinstripe Tencel twill van MeetMilk naast de french terry van See You at Six legde maakte mijn hart direct een sprongetje. Het klassieke van de krijtstreep met het speelse en romantische van de bloemenprint van See You at Six. Zelfs toen dit nog een stapeltje stof in mijn handen was, zag ik de outfit al voor me.

When I saw this tencel twill by Meet Milk next to the french terry by See You at Six they seemed to be made for eachother. The classic pinstripe together with the playful flowery print, it was love.... From the moment I held this pile of fabrics in my hand I had the vision of this outfit in my head.

Tropische jumpsuit

Wanneer het nieuwe seizoen start, begin ik altijd met bladeren door mijn naaitijdschriften en patronencollectie. Meestal ontstaat er een ellenlange lijst waarvan de helft niet genaaid wordt. Iets met niet genoeg uren in de dag. Deze jumpsuit kwam deze lente direct hoog bovenaan mijn lijstje. En nu aan het eind van de zomer kan ik wel zeggen dat dit niet zonder reden was. Dit is misschien wel mijn meest gedragen kledingstuk van de afgelopen maanden.

When a new season starts I start to flip through my sewing magazines and pdf patterns. Usually I make a list of everything I want to sew. But reality is that more then half of it does not get sewn. Something with too many plans and not enough hours in the day... But this jumpsuit ended up pretty high on my list and actually got made. At the end of summer I can say that this was my most worn outfit over the last couple of months.

Nostalgie in een t-shirt

Ken je ze nog, cassettebandjes? Nostalgie is dat toch... Wat heb ik hier vroeger veel plezier mee gehad! Mijn eerste echte bandje was van Michael Jackson (toen hij nog geniaal en misschien wat vreemd was, en nog niet van zijn voetstuk gevallen). Maar misschien waren die lege cassettebandjes wel het leukst. Ik herinner me nog zo, hoe ik een eigen radioshow opnam met mijn beste vriendinnetje. En later zelf nummers opnemen van de radio of overnemen van andere bandjes.  En toen ik nog wat ouder was, bleef ik tot 's avonds laat op, omdat het concert van mijn favo band uitgezonden werd. En je moest wel daadwerkelijk fysiek op de knop drukken om dat dan op te nemen. En natuurlijk compilaties maken van je lievelingsnummers en dat op vakantie helemaal grijs draaien. Ruzie krijgen op de achterbank over wiens bandje nu aan de beurt was om op de autoradio af te spelen tijdens de lange rit naar Zuid-Frankrijk (zonder airco, natuurlijk).

Do you remember them, cassette-tapes? Ooooh how much fun did I have with them. My first real tape was by Michael Jackson (at the time when he was considered a genius and also maybe a bit eccentric and not fallen off his pedestal yet). But to be honest the empty cassette-tapes were most fun of course. I still recall making our own radio show with my best friend from school. And as I got older recording songs from the radio or copying other tapes. And as I got even older I remember staying up to late because a concert of one of my favourite band was broadcast. And you would have to physically push the button to record this. Of course preparing for holiday meant working hard on the perfect mixed tape. The tape you would listen to non stop. Getting into arguments with my brother in the back seat about who's turn on the car radio it was during the long drive to the south of France (without air-conditioning, obviously...)

Kolletje pop ...met toversokken!

Al jarenlang lezen wij onze dochters voor uit Kolletje. Fantastische boeken, helemaal in de belevingswereld van kleuters. Het gaat over een meisje die van haar tante gebreide toversokken krijgt. En die sokken doen het echt! Onze jongste dochter geniet nog volop van de verhalen. Wat is er nu leuker dan een eigen Kolletje pop om de avonturen na te spelen of nieuwe avonturen te verzinnen!? Dus maakte ik voor haar verjaardag een eigen Kolletje.... met toversokken natuurlijk!

For years we have been reading Kolletje books to our daughters. They are truly fantastic and really reflect on the daily life of young children in the age of 4-6. The books are about Kolletje, a girl who receives magical socks knitted by her aunt. And those socks really do work! Our youngest daughter still really enjoys the books. So I made her a Kolletje doll for her birthday. What could be more fun than to recreate Kolletjes' adventures or make up new ones?!
